The shamrock is perhaps the most recognized symbol of St. Patrick’s Day. This three-leafed plant is deeply tied to Irish identity and folklore. According to legend, St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Christian concept of the Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—to the Irish people during his missionary work in the 5th century.
