The Orionids appear to radiate from the constellation Orion, one of the most recognizable star patterns in the night sky. Orion is often linked with mythic themes of pursuit, skill, instinct, and courage. The shower’s parent body, Halley’s Comet, adds another layer. Because Halley’s orbit takes about 76 years, its debris connects each annual shower to a much longer cosmic cycle.
